This market will resolve to the individual who officially holds the position of the head of state of Venezuela on Dec 31, 2026 at 12 PM ET. For the purposes of this market, "officially holds" refers to the individual that was formally appointed, confirmed (if confirmation is required), and sworn in as the head of state of Venezuela or otherwise confirmed by official government information as being the head of state of Venezuela. If the Venezuelan government does not clearly state who is the head of state, the market will resolve to the individual who is listed as the Head of State by the UN (see: https://www.un.org/dgacm/en/content/protocol/hshgnfa). In the event that more than one official head of state is listed by the Venezuelan government, this market will resolve to the individual who is listed as having primary status. If no distinction is made, the market will resolve to the individual who first assumed the position. If no individual holds the position this market will resolve to “No Head of State”. The following do NOT constitute "officially holding" the role: nominated, announced, or designated as the head of state of Venezuela but appointment not yet effective; appointed with an effective date after Dec 31, 2026; previously served as the head of state of Venezuela but term has expired, resigned, or been terminated before Dec 31, 2026; serving as the head of state of Venezuela in a consultant, contractor, or unofficial capacity; named as successor or heir apparent to the head of state of Venezuela but not yet appointed; or holding a different role with oversight of the head of state of Venezuela but not the specified position itself. The primary resolution source will be official information from the UN recognized government of Venezuela. If the Government of Venezuela does not clearly state who is the head of state, information from the UN and a consensus of credible reporting may be used. Note: this market is mutually exclusive.

If the universidad estates say delcy is the head of state counts?

usernamedefault.txt Jul 18

Jorge Rodríguez will soon be extradited to the us.

Edokero Jul 6

What about if none of the above results president or head of state? What would the resolution be in that event?

fsm809 Jul 4

The question is who is the leader not who is the constitutional president....How can you lead from a prison?

WeAreCK Jul 7

obviously you cant, but in the paper maduro is still the leader, and polymarket decides the result based on that

m.herrera Jul 3

why maduro's so high?

what’s the strongest argument against Maduro here?

0xB9B56ac2329740ff9AFF25F1bA752508BeceC194-1772647472002 Jun 26

Delcy Rodríguez traded around 50-60% in Polymarket’s “Venezuela leader end of 2026?” market until Polymarket added an “Additional context” rule clarification on April 18 stating that delegated/de facto power doesn’t count as officially holding the presidency, after which her price collapsed to ~12%. Was this a legitimate clarification?

BetsAhead Jun 28

I don't think it's fair. We are not interested in technicalities on who is president. It would be absurd to bet on Maduro when he possibly will be in jail.

0xB9B56ac2329740ff9AFF25F1bA752508BeceC194-1772647472002 Jun 26

Flagging this for other traders and for the team’s awareness. I (and I suspect others) opened positions on Delcy Rodríguez before April 2026, as she is the one effectively exercising presidential decision-making authority in Venezuela. At that point Delcy was trading in the 50-60% range. On April 18, Polymarket added an “Additional context” note to the rules stating that temporary legal measures delegating presidential powers don’t count as an official transfer, and that Maduro remains officially recognized regardless of who is actually exercising the powers. Right after that note went up, Delcy’s price collapsed to ~12%, while Maduro jumped to 78%+. The issue isn’t the underlying fact pattern — it’s whether this was a genuine clarification of a pre-existing standard (allowed under the rules: clarifications “cannot change the fundamental intent of the question”) or a new interpretive standard introduced mid-market that wasn’t disclosed when positions were opened. If “officially holds” was always meant to exclude de facto/delegated power, that should have been explicit from day one, not added four months into trading. Curious if others who traded this market before April 18 read the original rules the same way, and whether this is something worth raising with the Polymarlet team before resolution.

buy Delcy Rodriguez strong

2147gp May 17

NO is the only side that makes sense to me here. the market is acting like the UN file is frozen forever, but it’s not. maduro is already under the U.S. case, and now Saab gets extradited too. if Saab talks or strengthens the case, the odds of maduro getting legally cooked go way higher. NO is just betting reality catches up to the paperwork before end of 2026. [link removed]

ragutwo May 31

I don't believe the UN will change this unless the Venezuelan government asks them to. As far as I know, there is nothing that prohibits Maduro from officially being the President of Venezuela, even if he is elsewhere, even in a foreign jail.

Let them cook

Im in venezuela right now, everyone thinks there will be elections, but then can occur next year only FYI

VeneconPower May 5

Today Maria Corina talks about elections in 12 months. That means she thinks de Supreme Court will change the Maduro’s status in Venezuela. After 03/06 (180 days after the temporary absence) the absolute absence is declared. So… good bye Maduro

VeneconPower Apr 29

“…and official government sources and statements continue to identify him as the President of Venezuela. “ :) do not forget about 03/06/2026

VeneconPower Apr 29

While everyone was chasing liquidity rewards yesterday, Ken was busy dumping 20% of his shares :). Fact is, the 'temporary absence' legal window expires in Venezuela on 06/03/2026. The ongoing judicial reform targets the Supreme Court (TSJ), which handles Maduro’s status. We're seeing a repeat of the legal maneuvers used when Chávez died.

VeneconPower Apr 29

Keep in mind: Maduro is on trial in the U.S., trying to declare himself a prisoner of war while simultaneously claiming the presidency. U.S. prosecutors have no use for a Maduro who is still legally president. That makes 06/03/2026 the most vital date to watch the Plenary Chamber of the new court :)

libanorix Apr 29

Yeah, "No" is free money right now. We're still in April, come on... The crooked UN has a lot of time to realize he's not in charge

VeneconPower Apr 29

Or “official government sources and statements” :) sounds good

ScamwiseGamgee Apr 29

By official government sources they mean Venezuelan Government, dumfuq and same with the UN they put there whatever the Government of Venezuela tells them to do.

VeneconPower Apr 29

Yep. But you have to take into account that Maduro is facing impeachment proceedings, and as part of his defense, he declared himself president. That hinders the trial in the US. Therefore, after June 3rd (the date on which the temporary absence legally ends in Venezuela), it's very likely that a new legal figure will emerge as Delcy's president :).

Not-A.Gambler May 14

crooked UN? really? Is Trump crooked or honest then? Strange judgement here

andreJ2309 Jul 17

They won’t say a thing about this shit

Good time to buy no Maduro :)

This market is rigged and is a scam. I'm a Venezuelan and the official president, by supreme court ruling is Delcy Rodriguez.

ForSale Apr 19

can you please send this proposal to UN?

This is absurd! Plain old scam…

MagicEightBall Apr 18

ScamwiseGamgee Apr 18

Are you gonna send one of your little drone toys yall people use to kill civilians to Maduro's jail or what?

bbiiii Apr 18

why can new rules be added? WTF??does this mean that the outcome can be directly manipulated?

MagicEightBall Apr 18

Yeah, changed rules after bets were made, instead of head of state it become "a president"

StarMaster Apr 18

If you’ve been paying even a modicum of attention to the market, you would have realized very early on that there was a possibility the rules could be interpreted exactly as they have now been clarified. Why else would Maduro have been trading at 15c while he’s locked up in Sing Sing or whatever prison he’s in?
